If your fair uses RFID tags for livestock, you may integrate with any RFID reader in FairEntry. You will need to be able to export a list of numbers in Excel from your RFID reader for bulk entry or put the reader in a “keyboard” mode for individual entry.
NOTE: If your state uses Animal ID in 4-H Online, you may still use the RFID integration, even if the RFID field is not turned on for the Animal Type. You will just see the RFID number on Reports rather than on the screen when you view an animal.

Setup
- From the Administrator account, select the Set Up tab and click on Animal Types.
- Be sure each of the Animal Types for which you would like to use RFID has either the Tag or Tattoo Identifier field selected.
- Open entries to your exhibitors.
- On the Setup menu, Animal Types tab, (at the bottom) a Data Template is provided, as well as an "examples" spreadsheet. Download those and complete the template as formatted--Tag or Tattoo in Column A under Animal Identifier, and RFID in column B under RFID. (see help text and Example Data for details)
RFID Import
- After your exhibitors have submitted all of the animal entries, click on the Set Up tab and then the Animal Types sub-tab.
- Click “RFID Import”.
- Upload the spreadsheet you created with the tag/tattoo numbers and corresponding RFID numbers. The system will insert the corresponding RFID numbers for each of the tag numbers.
- You will see a "successful" message after upload--if you are NOT successful with the upload, take another look at your file and determine what corrections have to be made, based on the example data.
Check-in
Individual Check-in:
- Using the RFID reader (in keyboard mode), place your cursor in the Search box, then scan the RFID tag.
- Select/click the correct entry to be checked in.
- Enter the check-in data (weight, etc).
- Click Check-in.
Update Check-in and Weights in Bulk
- At the top of the check-in screen, click the Upload button.
- Select and upload a spreadsheet that meets the criteria listed in the Info box: Excel, two columns, no headers, RFID number in column A, weight in column B. (This file would have been exported from either the RFID reader or the RFID scale).
