FairEntry will calculate the Average Daily Gain for animals as they are checked in, if you have the data for four fields: Beginning Weight, Beginning Weight Date, Check-in Weight, Check-in Date.
On the check-in screen, the check-in weight and date (defaults to current date) can be entered if you have the appropriate Entry Setting selected for the entry class--Record Animal Weight at Checkin = Yes.
The beginning weight/date information can be entered in two ways: Either those 2 fields are set up as part of the Animal Types setup, and the exhibitor enters the information when they make entry; or it is an entry setting designed to allow the information to be entered at check-in time. Either method will return the same results, in terms of calculating the Average Daily Gain.
When the information is entered, the Average Daily Gain will calculate and appear on the check-in screen. The example below is an animal that had the beginning weight and date entered as part of the Animal Type.
IMPORTANT: Entering a zero in the Beginning Weight field will throw an error when the field is used in a report because of the calculation involved. If you do not have a beginning weight, leave the field blank instead.
