Each fair subscription comes with a default URL - a direct link to your fair's homepage. Although your families/exhibitors can start at www.fairentry.com and use the "Find Your Fair" link at the top, it's much more convenient to provide them with a URL that takes them directly to your homepage.
In the beginning, your default URL is not terribly user-friendly, in terms of giving it to someone over the phone. It looks something like what you see below, which is a screen shot from the Organization page (only accessible to Organization Admins):
If you click on the Edit link beside the name of the fair, you can edit both the name of the fair (this is the overall name of the fair, not including the year) and the URL. Whatever you type into the Subdomain box will be your fair's URL, between "www." and ".fairentry.com". This will be the same URL used every year, with the fair that is currently designated as the Primary Fair showing up on the home page.
Best practices for URL:
- No spaces--web addresses do not allow for those. If you feel like you NEED a space, use an underscore.
- Each FairEntry URL is unique to one fair. If you have a common name, like Washington County, you may find that washingtoncountyfair has already been assigned to a different customer, so you will have to choose another, perhaps adding your state to that URL.
- Keep it simple. Practice saying it out loud. Pretend that you are on the phone with a parent at 11:30 PM before entry closes at midnight. Do you have a reasonable expectation that they will be able to type that URL successfully?
Click Save when you are done entering the URL. Although it can be edited at any time, it would not be a good idea to do that after you have furnished it to your exhibitors and family.
Reminder: Your fair staff will always be more successful logging in through www.fairentry.com using the Staff Login link.
