Even though Custom Shows and Custom Sale Programs have a designated purpose, sometimes they can be useful to include information that may not be available on a Custom Report. There are the largest number of fields available in custom reports, but there are some fields that are only available in either Custom Show Programs or Custom Sale Programs. All reports will list only approved entries into the fair.
How do they compare and what are the advantages of each?
Custom Reports
- Has the longest list of available fields for use in reports.
- Can be created using custom fields, using the portion of the hierarchy that contains those custom fields.
- Cannot return results information until the budget has been finalized.
- The Entry Barcode field will not print correctly on a PDF of a custom report.
- The field "Buyer Notes" is only available on Custom Reports.
Custom Shows
- The Ribbon, Placing, and Award fields will print results before the budget has been finalized.
- The Entry Barcode field DOES print correctly in PDF.
- This is the easiest way to control the hierarchy included, whether it's all within the same department or division or not. You can select to print one report to include the Market Beef, Market Swine, and Market Sheep divisions -- or Registered Steers and Registered Heifers classes without the Crossbred classes.
- Uses a field called Animal Identifier, which will print as either the Tag, Tattoo, or Animal Name, depending on which is set as the identifier on the Animal Type. If you use that field to list horses and pigs on a report, the Animal Name will print for horses, and Tag for pigs.
- Does not include the full range of Exhibitor fields.
- Custom fields are not available.
Custom Sale Program
- Lists only entries marked with Sale Participation.
- Awards, Placings and Ribbons will print results before budgets are finalized.
- Although it has the shortest list of fields available, some fields specific to the sale are only available in Sale Programs: Add-ons--Buyer Name, Add-ons with Amounts, Buyers with Amounts, and "combined fields" Exhibitor/Class/Awards, Exhibitor & Grade.
