If your buyer list is primarily the same from year to year, maybe yes. But there are reasons that you might NOT want to copy the buyer list from year to year, as well.
- You want to start over with Buyer ID numbers.
- Buyers won't necessarily be a part of the same Buyer Group this year.
- There's a lot of editing to be done with the Buyer information.
- You have Buyers that use the same email address as their family (exhibitor) accounts or staff accounts. This causes issues at entry time if the Buyer account email exists and is marked as "Allow Login" before the family logs in to make entries for the current year. See more
Any of these reasons might make "starting over" a better choice. There is a way to do this without manually re-typing everything from scratch.
In your PREVIOUS year's fair, go to the Sale menu, Buyers tab. Click Download Buyer List from the right side of the screen, and then Download for Excel.
All the information you need for a new upload will be included, but the format will need fixed.
In your NEW fair, click on the Import Buyers link and download the template. The columns in red below are required information for upload.
You can copy and paste the information from the previous year's buyer information into the new template. There is a way, in Excel, to separate column H (CityStatePostalCode) into the 3 columns you need for the template. See the Help Center article Splitting Data into Separate Columns in Excel for details about that.
Once you have all the information about the buyers for this year into the template, again, in the NEW fair, click on the Import Buyers link and Select File.
If the file doesn't upload, check the Data Requirements information on screen and make certain that your spreadsheet has the correct format.
